The airport, which is adjacent to Scott Air Force Base, is situated in the southwestern end of Illinois, approximately 18 miles east of St. Louis in neighboring Missouri. Boeing moved T1, which also carries the U.S. civil registration code N234MQ, there in April 2019 and that's where it took its first flight five months later.

In 1946, two Swedes named Hugo Abramson and Harald Jentzen designed the Carl Gustaf, which at the time appeared to be just another recoilless rifle like the famous bazooka. Many of these weapons fell out of use in the following decades as anti-tank missiles took over.
But the Carl Gustaf stuck around — and for a different role than Abramson and Jentzen had planned in the 1940s. For one, it’s now just as much an anti-infantry weapon owing to its range, low cost and types of ammunition.

Bell Textron—a Fort Worth, Texas-based aerospace manufacturer—released concept art last week for a novel High-Speed Vertical Takeoff and Landing (HSVTOL) aircraft. The vehicle is noteworthy because it takes off and lands like a typical helicopter, but flies like a fixed-wing aircraft. The concept art and development plans are the result of an Air Force study seeking to create a plane that could replace the service's V-22 Ospreys.

The US Air Force (USAF) and unnamed venture capital firms have invested $60 million into Hermeus Corporation as part of an effort to develop and test fly an unmanned hypersonic aircraft and propulsion systems.
The company is being funded via the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Presidential and Executive Airlift Directorate, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), in addition to private investors, the service said on 5 August. The share or terms of the USAF’s investment were not disclosed.

The US Air Force has released a new digital rendering of its B-21 Raider heavy strategic nuclear bomber, along with more information about the warplane. It's being built by Northrop Grumman as part of the Air Force's Long-Range Strike Bomber program to modernize one leg of the US nuclear deterrence triad, which consists of bombers, land-based missiles, and submarine-based missiles.

In late January, the US Navy dropped $150 million on a pair of new laser cannons. One of the so-called "High Energy Lasers," built by Lockheed Martin, is destined for testing on land.
The other is going to sea aboard an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer as early as 2020, potentially making it the world's first large, war-ready "directed-energy" weapon.

The U.S. Air Force has released a new photorealistic image of the B-21 Raider, showing the long-range stealth bomber taking off from Edwards Air Force Base, California, where it will someday be tested before taking on worldwide operations.
The service on Tuesday posted the photo of the Raider, which sports a squat, sleeker profile than its larger cousin, the B-2 Spirit. Both bombers are made by Northrop Grumman.

Sikorsky and Boeing Co. have unveiled the futuristic helicopter they're proposing to be the U.S. Army's Future Long Range Assault Aircraft.
In a series of mockup photos and videos, Sikorsky and Boeing officials on Monday revealed Defiant X: a compound coaxial helicopter, like its predecessor the Defiant, but with significant upgrades for troops headed into combat zones.
