Duckworth said she had visited Boeing's facilities at MidAmerica last week as part of a larger visit. The airport, which is adjacent to Scott Air Force Base, is situated in the southwestern end of Illinois, approximately 18 miles east of St. Louis in neighboring Missouri. Boeing moved T1, which also carries the U.S. civil registration code N234MQ, there in April 2019 and that's where it took its first flight five months later.

In 1946, two Swedes named Hugo Abramson and Harald Jentzen designed the Carl Gustaf, which at the time appeared to be just another recoilless rifle like the famous bazooka. Many of these weapons fell out of use in the following decades as anti-tank missiles took over.
But the Carl Gustaf stuck around — and for a different role than Abramson and Jentzen had planned in the 1940s. For one, it’s now just as much an anti-infantry weapon owing to its range, low cost and types of ammunition.

Bell Textron—a Fort Worth, Texas-based aerospace manufacturer—released concept art last week for a novel High-Speed Vertical Takeoff and Landing (HSVTOL) aircraft. The vehicle is noteworthy because it takes off and lands like a typical helicopter, but flies like a fixed-wing aircraft. The concept art and development plans are the result of an Air Force study seeking to create a plane that could replace the service's V-22 Ospreys.

The US Air Force (USAF) and unnamed venture capital firms have invested $60 million into Hermeus Corporation as part of an effort to develop and test fly an unmanned hypersonic aircraft and propulsion systems.
The company is being funded via the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Presidential and Executive Airlift Directorate, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), in addition to private investors, the service said on 5 August. The share or terms of the USAF’s investment were not disclosed.
